I've only used it as a thermometer twice, once to calibrate it to check against boiling water and once the temperature of a turkey internatal I smoke too. I am impressed by its precision and relatively quickly read the answer. Note: You pay extra for the clock and all the time. In my experience, is the probe and the wire, the first break. I have 2 sensors / son with this device. If it continues like this for a year's work, I would have 5 stars.
